1737-Letter to Empress Anne
In 1737, the very first recorded piece of writing regarding ballet was a letter sent to the Empress Anne, requesting twelve young dancers to perform in a ballet production. By this point in ballet's history, dance was becoming more and more of a pass time and entertainment for the kings and queens of Europe. It had not reached public society yet but was definitely known to the peasants. Ballet was slowly growing into a what we know it as today.
